My InstaWeek: 5/18/13

Though I spent most of my time working, I figured I'd share two of the highlights from this week.  The first is that I got to meet legendary designer Betsey Johnson.  While I didn't get to take a picture with her, she was kind enough to stop, say hello and shake my hand as she was rushing to leave, which was very nice and almost impossible considering how much security she had with her.  Then I went with one of my favorite ladies to The Smith, which is a fantastic restaurant in the East Village.  They serve American cuisine (whatever that means) and it was surprisingly delicious, especially the shrimp and grits.  You should definitely give it a try if you're in the area.

Designer Spotlight: Ashley Nell Tipton Collection Launch

The beautiful designer.

If you all remember, I have been anxiously waiting for Ashley Nell Tipton's collection to launch since last year.  She is a very talented young designer that showed some of her beautiful designs at last year’s Full Figured Fashionweek.  Her collection offers bold and bright colors in a variety of fabrics (not just jersey knits like many other plus size designers) and even accessories.  Her clothing is available in 1x-6x (10-32) and you can purchase them here.

Last Saturday I celebrated the end of my law school career by doing what I do best - shop.  Even though I didn't buy anything, I had a great time browsing, playing with MAC's makeup, and trying on clothes and shoes. Too bad I can't spend every day like that.

Lunch in the Park

Since today was such a beautiful day, my friend and I decided to take a long lunch in the park. We had such a great time stuffing our faces, laying out on the grass, and, of course, taking pictures.

Currently Craving: Maxi Dresses

Maxi dresses are my favorite thing to wear when the weather warms up.  To me, maxis are a great addition to any closet.  Why? Because they are perfect for any occasion. They can easily be dressed up or down by adding the right shoes and accessories. 

Above, I've put together a few that I've been stalking.  The black and white dress from Lane Bryant is my favorite of the three and very on trend this season.
