Online Shopping?

I rarely buy clothes online because, as I have said in a previous post, I genuinely enjoy the in-store shopping experience.  To me, there is nothing better than spending a quite morning in the store browsing and buying (before some parents see fit to bring their screaming and ill-mannered children to the stores).  However, the other day, I spoke to a friend of mine who seems to really like shopping on-line.  In particular, she seems to be enamored with the items that she purchased at ASOS Curve, which has clothes that run from size 16-22.  I took a look at their website and found a few items that I like and may buy (depending on the availability of funds).

I really like the two printed dresses. I am also really into the color mint this season and I am searching for a couple of pieces in mint to add to my closet.  The skirt and the top may be great additions. Please let me know about your ASOS experience...especially returns.

Locked in the Library

I am so excited that classes are over, but it means that finals are right around the corner. :sigh:  So, it is time to barricade myself in my room or head to the library and study furiously for 2 weeks .  Today, I opted for the library because I couldn't bare staring at the four walls in my room without any human interaction any longer.  Here's what I wore to the library.

It seems that most of the clothing options for curvy women are online.  This is really frustrating because I'm not one for online shopping at all.  For me, it's all about being in the store so that I can feel the fabric, try on the clothes and enjoy the atmosphere of the store.  However, recently, the clothes on Macys.com has me hooked on their website.  I have checked their website everyday so I do not miss a sale and I have accumulated quite a long wishlist/saved shopping bag.  Right now there are a few dresses that I cannot wait to get my hands on.  I am particularly in love with the yellow Jessica Simpson Dress (the perfect dress for my birthday) and the printed maxi dress.  I really need to stop my crazy shopping sprees, but I just can't control myself.

Friends & Family @Macy's!!!!

Confession: I spend a lot of time at Macy's.  When I say a lot, I mean A LOT.  I am there every other day and most of the staff knows me.  Shame on me...I know, but I love Macy's and if you are a bargain hunter like myself, you know that the key to finding a great bargain at Macy's is shopping (but not necessarily buying) often.

Anyway, Macy's is having their Friends and Family Event, which is very exciting for me because there is an additional 25% off of original, sale and clearance items.  This is a big deal because the coupon that you must use in order to get the discount is even applicable on designers, which almost never happens.  I decided that because this is such a big event I should go to the  Herald Square Macy's to take advantage of the relatively larger selection and no sales tax. If you are going to the Herald Square Macy's also, keep in mind that they are remodeling the purse area and the selection of purses is not what it was.  However, they have done a decent job of expanding the Macy's Woman (their plus size section) department.  Be sure to check out the sale and let me know about your great finds.

Organizing Your Jewelry

I love to accessorize, but storing my jewelry has always been frustrating.  Long necklaces are particularly annoying because they can get tangled and broken causing me to throw them away (along with my money).  So, the other day I was looking for an easier way to store my jewelry and I came across two cute options that I wanted to share.

Shapely and Chic?

There are so many women like myself who live for all things fashion.  However, despite my admiration of designers and my desire to wear many of their beautiful garments that grace the pages of Elle, Vogue, W, etc., I am prohibited from lining my closets with their pieces.  Why?  Because I do not fit the fashion industry's standard sizing (sizes up to 10).  

Ladies of my size are often ignored by many designers and retailers.  There are only a handful of stores (bricks and mortar) that actually cater to my size, but those stores either have little variety, the prices are high, or the quality is sorely lacking.  This presents obstacles for women with curves (who are on a budget) when it comes to shopping for fashionable and affordable clothes.  But all is not lost.  It seems to me that all that is required to remedy this problem is a little creativity.

This blog is dedicated to all the curvy ladies who want to look great while staying within their budget.  So, look for my rants and raves as I navigate my journey toward continuing to be shapely and chic.
