Lately, some of my
curvy girlfriends have been complaining about the difficulties in finding
clothes that can go from day to play. My
solution: when buying pieces for your wardrobe be more thoughtful. Think about
how the pieces that you are buying can be worn. Can they be easily dressed up
or down? Can they be worn in different ways (i.e. a skirt as a dress)? If the
answers to these questions are no, you should leave them right there on the rack.
Today, I decided to wear an outfit that can go from day to evening with minimal effort.
Tonight I went out with two of my fav law school peeps (and for those of you in law school, you know that good law school friends are few and far between...I blame it on the competition). For my evening look, I wore this INC mini-dress with my Chinese Laundry platform gladiator pumps and an addorable belt from Nordstrom Rack that adjusts in the back. If you haven't already noticed, I love belts. They are one of the few accessories that I love to wear.
For my work look, I wore this dress as a top by tucking it into a pencil skirt. This is one of my favorite dresses because it is so versatile. It looks great as a skirt and a dress. I think it would also look great as a tunic with some leggings...maybe I'll try that in the fall. The bonus of the dress and the skirt is that they both have pockets. I don't know about you all, but I love when a dress or skirt comes with pockets, especially if they are big enough to carry my phone and my wallet.
Since I spend most of my days at a 9-5, I thought it would be good for me to do a series of posts with outfits that I easily take from day to play. Also, I would love it if you sent me
some of your "Day to Play" outfits and I will be sure to feature them
here.

P.S. The little park where I took these photos would be such an oasis if they would hire a landscaper. Also, I was getting super nervous here because there were so many geese. One of them got angry I think and wanted to show us that this was his park.
At this point, he began to squawk (which sounded more like a bark) and I believe my exact words (before I began running away in 5-inch heals) were: "Yooooooooooo!!" My mom said that he just wanted to be in the pictures, but I wasn't taking any chances.
